In the midst of trying to save myself and you time and money, my own time sometimes gets lost.   I was reminded of this today, and will have to try to figure out how to manage my time more wisely.

We all get ahead of ourselves.  We take on too many projects, commitments, etc.  I don’t know why it is in our human nature to “over schedule” ourselves.   So, this weekend take some time to just stop.  Stop and spend some time with your family.  Take time to think about what your priorities are. Oh, and take time to make this delicious meal.   Seriously….I wasn’t going to make you bust out that box of Kleenex.

I did somehow manage to find time to make this before soccer tonight.  This has got to be the ultimate Southern Comfort food (Well, after fried chicken).  I love Chicken Fried Steak! I am a meat girl.  I can’t hide it! If I make a dinner, it will 98% off the time include meat.  There is that occasion when I make spaghetti with no meatballs, or Black Beans and Rice.  Those are the only 2 truly meatless meals I can think of off the top of my head.

So, take some time this weekend to head to the store and get what you need to make this filling, meaty, comfort food.

Chicken Fried Steak

Chicken Fried Steak Printable Version

• 1 -2 Lbs. Cubed Beef Steaks (4 steaks)
• Flour
• 1 tsp. Salt
• Dash of Pepper
• 2 tsp. Garlic Salt
• 1 tsp. Onion Powder
• 1 tsp. Chili Powder
• 2 eggs & Splash of water
• Vegetable oil for frying

Directions

Pour oil about 1 inch deep in skillet. Heat the oil to about 350 degrees.

(I use cake pans for this)

In a pan, mix flour and seasonings. You could use a bowl.

In another pan whisk the 2 eggs and about ¼ cup water.  Just enough water  to make a wash.

Take one steak and dip it into the flour mix; Coat.

Now dip that same steak into the egg wash (coat), and then back into the flour.  You want to make sure that it is covered in the flour mix.

Place steak in hot oil and fry on each side about 5 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Repeat with each steak.

Serve with mashed potatoes and gravy and a veggie of course!

*Dairy Free* If you use water for the egg wash this steak is Dairy Free.

*Gluten Free* If you would like to make this gluten free you could try using a GF flour or using Homemade breadcrumbs.

• (1.5 lbs) Beef Cubed Steaks, $3.49/lb ($5.24)
• Red Creamer Potatoes, 3 lb bag, $1.99
• 1 Publix Salad Blend, 5 to 12 oz bag, 2/$4
• Crisco Oil, Assorted Varieties, 48 oz bot, $2.99
• -$1.00 with the purchase of 1 Crisco® Puritan® Canola Oil with Omega – 3 DHA If Included
• 1 Pkt. Brown Gravy Mix $1.00

Total = $12.22

Divide by 4

$3.05 Per Person plus…

Extra Potatoes and oil

I think this is a good price for the meat, potatoes and a salad! You try to feed a family of 4 at Cracker Barrel for $12.22! It’s just not happening!

Life has been so busy for us…busier than I had ever expected it to be.  But, that is the life of a Mommy of 3 wondeful, beautiful girls who works full time and blogs.  However, I wouldn’t change anything at all, I love it the way its.  I just want you all to know I am a little behind and I apologize.  I am catching up!    Please do not dislike me, I’m working on it.  Just trying to get used to a new schedule, not really seeing my husband and just being super busy!  Please still love me.

Anyway, I didn’t tell you guys Tuesday on my way home, I had just picked up Big Sister J and was heading to get the rest of the gang and Big Sister J and I heard this loud noise.  I didn’t have a clue what the sound was, but then I saw on Powhite Parkway, there was a wide enough median where I could get on the side of the road.  Coupon Mommy had a Flat Tire.  Argh!!  I changed a flat tire a long time ago, but seriously it had been so long and I was nervous being on the highway, I called DH.  I need your help.  So, he had to leave and come help me.  In the midst of waiting for him, the Police Motorist came to rescue us.  He changed my tire and away I went.  

What an experience.  Not one I want to experience again!

I found another WAHM through Etsy that makes wonderful Cloth Diapers. Meet Vanessa, the WAHM of Twinkletoes Cloth Diapers, she is a mom to two beautiful daughters 3 and 1. They are the reason I’m trying to work at home.I remember my Mom working at home and always being there for me. So I would love to be able to do that for my kids. Thankfully my husband is very supportive of my decision to try to work from home.

Vanessa sent us her Twinkletoes Paw Prints One Size AIO/AI2 that fits babies between 10 – 30 lbs.  We first tried this diaper on my oldest diaper, and she isn’t fun when is comes to taking pictures of her when she was in diapers because she is very modest.  Thankfully she is no longer in diapers.  However with her we used this as a night time diaper since when we received this she was only using diapers at night.

Daddy and I were both impressed because she could wear this diaper all night and she was a huge wetter and we didn’t have any leakage.  That is a super plus for any mommas who are looking for diapers to wear at night time.

Let me tell you some information about this diaper:
It has a waterproof shell made of cotton and PUL that can be wiped down in between diaper changes. Which cuts down on the amount of shells you need and the amount of laundry you do.

The cuddly soft organic hemp fleece Zorb soaker is topped with a stay dry layer of suede cloth. The soaker snaps into the outer shell, so there is no stuffing involved.
This diaper is bound with fold over elastic for a snug fit without being too tight. It comes with rise snaps down the front to fit babies 10- 30 lbs.

We tried Twinkletoes diapers on Baby B second..and the first night I put it on her she woke up at 2AM, and I had to do a changing because she had made a mess, not a leak mess, but a messy poop mess.  Some of it got on the inside of the diaper, but guess what this was not a problem at all. All we did was wipe the inside out and placed another soaker in and we were ready to go. Go back to sleep that was.

 I know you really can’t see the diaper, but she does have it on here underneath her onesie. She was getting ready to go to bed one night and I thought I could get a photo before feeding her, but I had all the nightly duties I need to do, daddy was letting her play a game to keep her occupied. Well, it didn’t work long and she got super cranky and was ready for some feeding time or as we call it, “booby time”.  And that was it for the night, so I didn’t catch pictures.  If I catch some with her in them, I will post.

What I loved about this is that you really don’t need to have many waterproof shells because they can be wiped down to be used again, you just need extra soakers.  What a way to save money and all you mommies know I am all about saving money.   The soakers have a great feel to them and their absorbency is amazing.

Do you want to know how easy this is to use?  All you do is place it on your child’s forehead, hit the button and it scans the temperature. Thats it the Exergen Temporal Scanner reads the temperature within 2 seconds.  WOAH!  Now, do you have a squirmy baby, toddler?  This is perfect for them.

The best part to this is that it does not require disposable covers or parts.  So, the only maintenance would be to sanitize before the next child. Exergen temporal scanner is the only thermometer manufactured in the United States, that is awesome right and it does not contain any mercury.

To make sure you have the best experience with the Exergen temporal scanner, please make sure you take off the transparent cap because your scanner must make skin contact.  I will tell you that I did forget one time to take it off and it does alter the readings, so please make sure you remove it before taking temperature.
